’15 city, township calendars available

CLAYTON TOWNSHIP AND SWARTZ CREEK – Are you wondering when the Clayton Township Board of Review is going to meet? Are you curious about what days recycling will be collected in Swartz Creek?

The 2015 calendars are now available for both communities.

The township calendar is available at the hall or online at www.claytontownship.org/. It includes the dates for meetings of the Board of Trustees, Planning Commission, Zoning Board of Appeals and Board of Review, plus a list of the dates when the township offices will be closed.

The city’s calendar is available at city hall. Besides recycling dates, it includes the dates for meetings of City Council, the Planning Commission, the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board and the Downtown Development Authority, plus office closures.

In addition, dates are marked for Family Movie Night and the summer concert series. Additional information on brush chipping, water bills, dog licenses, taxes and other parks and police programs is also included. – L.R.

Committee to consider millage rate

SWARTZ CREEK – A five-member ad-hoc street millage committee is expected to deliver its findings at the Monday, Jan. 12, City Council meeting.

The committee was appointed in December to study a 20-year investment plan, consider a prioritized list of street improvements and recommend a levy amount.

The group consists of Mayor David Krueger, Councilmen Curt Porath and Dennis Pinkston, engineer Lou Fleury and City Manager Adam Zettel. – L.R.

Council OKs MML dues

SWARTZ CREEK – The city will pay $3,025 to renew its annual membership in the Michigan Municipal League. The dues cover one year beginning Feb. 1.

Councilman Curt Porath said the city “saves a lot of money every year” because of the information and legislative advocacy the MML provides to local units of government. – L.R.
