Facilities improvements

SWARTZ CREEK – Several improvements are being made at Swartz Creek Community Schools facilities.

At Mary Crapo, which houses the Child Development Center and Swartz Creek Academy, new windows and a kitchen are being installed, and a new marquee will replace the current sign.

The middle school is getting new bleachers and the tennis courts are being repaired.

A new flag pole and base are slated for installation at the Performing Arts Center, Dieck Elementary is getting new entry doors and some parking lots will be patched.

Finally, the bus garage is being fitted with an automated bus wash. The bus wash has been the focus of controversy since it was proposed more than a year ago. Some members of the school board and the public have objected to the cost of the washing system. Superintendent Dr. Jeff Hall has said the washer will generate revenue because the district can charge other school districts to use the system. – L.R.
