Twp. to rezone parts of Corunna Road

CLAYTON TOWNSHIP – The township Planning Commission is hoping to clean up some sloppy zoning along Corunna Road. “We have some odd zoning that developed decades ago,” said township attorney Ken Tucker. He described the oddity as “multi-zoning.” One parcel near Nichols Road is partially zoned for industrial uses, and partially for commercial uses. Another, near M-13, has three different zoning classifications under one parcel number. “Some parcels were rezoned 50 to 60 years ago, and we’re not even sure how they got that way,” Tucker said. “Some people want it straightened out. Others don’t even realize they’re multi-zoned. This is prime commercial property. So (the Planning Commission) will straighten out some of those strangely-zoned areas.” – L.R.
