In brief

Double swing to replace top hat

SWARTZ CREEK – The old inverted top hat climbing apparatus will be removed from the tot lot at Abrams Park.

The top hat is always muddy and generally an unsafe piece of playground equipment, said Jim Barclay, a member of the Swartz Creek Parks and Recreation Advisory Board.

An Expressions face-to-face swing will replace the top hat. The swing features a bucket seat for toddlers and a larger seat for adults.

“The eye-to-eye contact during mutual play is designed to create a stronger bond between the adult and child,” Barclay said. “That was what really grabbed my attention.” – L.R.
